This year, this month, Dayglo Fishermen reach a milestone in their history - their 20th anniversary.
Way back in the early spring of 1990 the band's original members - Peter Fothergill, David Fothergill, Peter Carmichael and Eamonn Maddick – first got together to work on what was expected to be just a one song project. That song, an experimental dance track named 'Fish', turned out to be something very special indeed.
Excited and motivated by their creation the band decided to record more songs. Just a few months later their first album, 'Drenched', was released to critical acclaim.
Soon after Richard Burton joined the band. With seemingly boundless enthusiasm Dayglo Fishermen embarked on what was to become a 20-year spree of intensely creative experimentation. The result was an incredible 17 more albums; each one a new and refreshing departure from the last, and each one an evolution, and often a revolution, in style and content. See all the album cover artwork below.
With unique imagination and limitless passion Dayglo Fishermen just keep on recording. The band’s current members - Richard Burton, Peter Fothergill, Ginny Owens and regular guest Sean Wills - are on the verge of releasing their 19th album featuring some of their most inventive and sophisticated work ever.
For those who have followed Dayglo Fishermen, and for those who have grown up with them, it is difficult to contemplate a world without their music.
Long may they continue.
