Peter Carmichael, one of the four founding members of Dayglo Fishermen, has died.
His distinctive vocal style and lyrics were pivotal in defining the band's early sound; most notably on the 1990 track 'Easy Projector' and on the 1992 track 'But Where Were the Mice'.
His best known vocals, though, are from the band's first song, 'Fish', where his rendition of 'The Catch', a poem by Charles Bukowski, in the song's middle section was expertly delivered, and helped define the tone and structure of many of the songs that followed.
As well as vocals, Peter also made significant instrumental contributions on the band's first four albums: 'Drenched', 'Strange Plaice', 'Fresh Gin' and 'And So It Is'. That era, from 1990 to 1992, was one of the band's busiest and most fiercely creative periods, due in no small part to Peter's contributions.
When he left Dayglo Fishermen he was greatly missed.
A unique talent has been lost. Please listen to those early albums and remember...
